Tassibee runs English classes on a regular basis, as there is a really big demand for them by the local communities.
The main aims of the English Classes are to enable ladies of all ages and abilities to learn to speak and listen to the English language. Some also want to improve their writing skills.
We also provide digital and functional English and Numeracy classes, in which women are taught how to optimise the use of their mobile phone for the purposes of banking, directions using google maps and messaging. Staff and volunteers work very hard to provide learning opportunities to develop work, skills and employability, and conversational English.
We accommodate their needs, and offer support workers to help the tutor because of the variations in the levels of learning.
These sessions also help to tackle socially isolation and low self-esteem.

One Day Courses
At Tassibee, we offer a range of training and workshops for the wider community. For the Autumn term, we have two sessions planned with Rotherham College.
Food Safety Level 1, which promotes hygiene, to learn essential food safety practices, to prevent food risks, and to create a safer environment for everyone.
First Aid Level 1, where others will learn basic first aid skills, build confidence in emergency situations, and learn from qualified trainers with practical demonstrations.
ESOL, Life Skills and Confidence with English
This course supports participants in developing the practical English and everyday skills needed to manage daily life confidently. From shopping and using public services, to navigating technology and learning useful apps, this course empowers individuals to communicate effectively, solve everyday challenges, and gain independence in their daily routines.
Our conversational English course is designed to support individuals who may not yet have the literacy skills needed to embark on a college course. The course focuses on practical communication, including improving grammar, sentence structure, and everyday conversation skills. Participants gain confidence in tasks such as filling out forms, shopping, engaging with public services, and participating in daily life. By building these essential skills, the course helps bridge the gap to further education, and prepares learners to progress onto college courses.
A did not have the confidence to speak English, despite being able to read and write a little English. A said ‘I used to rely on my young children to speak on my behalf, and make appointments for me when they came back from school. After attending this class, my confidence has increased to such an extent that I no longer rely on my daughter to speak on my behalf. I am now confident enough to ring my GP surgery to make an appointment for myself. Tassibee made this class fun, and the role play really helped me get my confidence. Thank you Tassibee.’

CV Skills and Employability
We are running this course in conjunction with the Rotherham College for three weeks, from the end of October, thru to November. This course aims to help our service users create their own professional CV and improve their interview skills. They will learn how to search and apply for jobs and build confidence for their future job interviews. We aim for our service users to understand what employers are looking for to help them in their job search.
